LTG (Ret) Robert Donahue - Chief Executive Officer
Prior to joining By Light, LTG (Ret) Donahue served as Senior Vice President and Client Industry Executive for Business Development. In this capacity, Bob was responsible for overall management of EDS’ relationship with the U.S. Army, DFAS, DISA, the Army Personnel Community, the Army National Guard and various Staff Activities within the Pentagon. Bob also served on the EDS CEO staff supporting the President’s National Security Telecommunications Advisory Committee. While on active Duty, Bob served as the Deputy Director of NATO Communications and Information Systems Agency (NATO C3), Commanding General of the U.S. Army Signal School, Director of the Joint Tactical Communications Office, and Deputy Assistant Chief of Staff for Information Management.

Bob Donahue - President & Founder
Bob Donahue, Jr. is the President and Founder of By Light. Bob’s in-depth expertise in the Government Telecommunication Sector has been the driving force behind the rapid growth of the company. Prior to starting By Light, Bob served as an active Duty Army Officer with extensive real world experience in both tactical and strategic communication units. His last assignment was as Program Manager for the DISN Expansion Program (DEP) at DISA delivering critical infrastructure to the DoD. Bob has a Master of Science in Telecommunications and a Bachelors of Science in Computer Science. Military qualifications include: The Master Parachutist Badge and Ranger Tab.

Mike Bowser - Senior Vice President
Mike has been developing and delivering DWDM, SONET, ATM and IP solutions to the Federal Government for more than 14 years. Prior to joining By Light, Mike served as Vice President of Federal Systems for LAMBDA Opticalsystems, where he focused on 3D MEMS based all-optical-switching and metro DWDM platforms. He also lead worldwide sales efforts at Acorn Networks, a semiconductor manufacturer specializing is OC-192 traffic shaping and hardware based QoS solutions.  Mike has also served as a Global Account Manager for Fore Systems/Marconi where he directed all aspects of the USAF sales territory. Prior to Fore Systems, Mike held engineering management positions with DynCorp and Harris Corporation. He holds Bachelors of Science degrees in Computer Engineering and Business Administration and is a distinguished graduate of the Defense Language University.

Don Cole - Senior Vice President
In July 2004, Don joined By Light as Vice President responsible for Business Development and Operations where he has provided proven leadership in support of Department of Defense programs. He has extensive experience in the telecommunications arena with more than 30 years of successful management and business development experience with large-scale telecommunications projects. Don has held various positions throughout his 28-year career with AT&T to include key positions in sales, marketing and program management.  His strong leadership enabled the  successful  implementations of  high technology programs with the Department of Defense, the Federal civilian agencies and foreign governments. Following AT&T, Don joined Qwest Communications Government Systems as Senior Director, DoD Programs to develop the defense market for Qwest and provide leadership and management for all project activities supporting the Defense Department. He also established and managed the Qwest team supporting the Governments National Coordination Center (NCC) for telecommunications and the President’s National Security telecommunications Advisory Committee (NSTAC).

COL (Ret) Rod Phillips - Vice President, US Army Territory
Rod served 29+ years in Army positions requiring mission-critical telecommunications  at tactical, operational, and strategic levels  supporting worldwide joint and special operation requirements. Prior to joining By Light, he served as the Chief Information Officer/G6 for 1st Corps, Ft Lewis, WA.  He was directly responsible for the C4ISR (Command, Control, Communications, Computers and Intelligence) design, deployment, and integration of signal resources for 1st  Corps throughout the Pacific Region.  He led the procurement, operation, management and systems -of- systems interface for joint and combined communication networks in support of foreign internal defense, peace keeping, direct actions, and humanitarian operations.

John D. South - Chief Financial Officer
John South joined By Light in March of 2006. John has held several executive and senior-level finance positions with telecommunications companies, namely TeleCorp PCS (former AT&T Wireless affiliate) and the US-unit of Cable & Wireless. John began his career in public accounting with KPMG Peat Marwick and Laventhol. John is a CPA with a Master’s Degree in Taxation from American University and a B.S. in Accounting from University of Maryland.

MAJ (Ret) Chris Hoback - Vice President
Chris joined By Light in July 2011 as Vice President for Business Development in the Army sector. A retired Army Signal Officer, and Project Management Professional (PMP) with over 22 years of leadership experience in developing IT solutions for the Department of Defense; Chris brings extensive experience in capture management, program management, systems analysis & design, and innovation. Prior to joining By Light, Chris served as Director for the Information Technology Business Unit of CGI Federal where he successfully managed multiple DISA and Army programs throughout the United States, Germany, and Central Asia. Over a 20+ year Army career, Chris gained a unique depth of knowledge in Special Operations activities, strategic satellite communications in both Iraq and Afghanistan, and the Pentagon community. Chris earned a Bachelors of Science degree in Decision Science and Management Information Systems from George Mason University.

Erik Sapp - Vice President
Erik joined By Light in January 2009 and is a versatile executive providing leadership, and strategic support for capture opportunities and IT program operations. A certified Project Management Professional (PMP) with over 24 years of business experience, Erik brings proven success in capture management, project start-up, program/project management, financial management, and implementation of new programs.  Prior to joining By Light Erik served as Vice President of Operations for the Defense and Intelligence Business Unit of INDUS Corporation where he directed the daily operations of multiple organizations  including wholly owned subsidiary companies; Aaron B. Floyd Enterprises, Inc. (AB Floyd) and Secure Network Services, LLC (SNS). Erik earned a Bachelors of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from Tuskegee University and also earned a Masters of Business Administration from Virginia Tech.

COL (Ret) Robert (Bob) T. Bell Jr. - Vice President, Space and Missile Defense Systems
Bob is a native of North Alabama who spent 26 years in the Army Signal Corps achieving the rank of Colonel. He is a results-oriented business executive with 29 years of Department of Defense progressive experience developing and managing multidiscipline and diverse organizations in both the corporate world and the U.S. Army. He joined the By Light team in October 2010, after spending 3 years expanding and establishing work supporting government customers at Redstone Arsenal Alabama (Aviation and Missile Life Cycle Management Command, (AMCOM), Program Executive Office Command, Control, and Communications Tactical (PEO C3T) Army Material Command (AMC), US Army Security Assistance Command (USASAC), and Missile Defense Agency (MDA).
